Update: 3 March 2024:

The upcoming panel discussion on the gendered perspective in international security will explore how gender dynamics play a crucial role across various global security and peacebuilding dimensions. Our conversation will span the integration of gender-sensitive approaches in counterterrorism and security strategies, highlighting women's significant contributions and unique challenges in these areas. We will examine the impact of gender on the effectiveness of policies aimed at combating emerging threats, such as online radicalization and bioweapons, and discuss the roles women can play in cybersecurity and biosecurity.

Furthermore, the panel will address the importance of international collaboration in tackling violent extremism and safeguarding human rights, with a focus on vulnerable groups such as women and children. We'll explore how cultural norms and gender roles influence involvement in terrorism, considering preventive strategies that address these root causes. The discussion will also cover the narratives of women affected by terrorism and counterterrorism measures, using these insights to advocate for more inclusive, rights-based approaches to global security. Lastly, we will discuss the barriers to incorporating a gender perspective within counterterrorism, intelligence, and human rights advocacy and strategize on overcoming these challenges to ensure a comprehensive and practical approach to international security.
