Abstract:

Women’s engagement in disarmament, arms control, and non-proliferation is a critical issue that deserves attention in today's global context. Women are disproportionately affected by the devastating impacts of conflict, including the use of arms and weapons. Yet, they are often excluded from decision-making processes related to disarmament and arms control. This panel discussion brings together experts in the field to explore the importance of women’s engagement in disarmament, arms control, and non-proliferation efforts, and the challenges that hinder their meaningful participation. The panelists will share their insights and experiences in promoting gender-responsive approaches to disarmament and arms control and provide recommendations for how to increase women’s meaningful participation in these fields.
